Co-op gallery of ceramic artists and a furniture maker in the Phil Mechanic Building in the River Arts District. We display functional, decorative and sculptural ceramic art, primarily made locally, and are the showroom for Appalachian Joinery custom woodworking. Multiple times a year we feature a ceramic artist from outside the area to make the display ever-changing.
I’m a classically trained pastry chef, and I’ve worked in the restaurant industry for (cough cough) a looong time. That’s where I learned to be so witty. 😉 In 2014 I started making cute little custom cakes for friends and family. Just for fun, because I missed making art, because friends don’t let friends eat a dry cake. Then people started requesting them, paying for them, coming up with crazy ideas. I spent the next year or so making four or five celebration cakes a week, holding down a full-time job, and running my entire business from a Facebook page.
Making wine in the heart of Asheville, NC from grapes grown in our surrounding mountains. Brought together by chance through a mutual friend at Appalachian State, we discovered that we had written similar business plans for an urban winery in Asheville. Asheville Treetops Adventure Park, an exciting Asheville attraction, is an aerial challenge course in the trees that has over 77 unique climbing, rolling, walking, jumping, swinging, and rappelling challenges anchored to over 30 trees and towering poles tucked into a wooded park. There are 7 different adventure trails ranging from beginner to challenging level that allow Park Guests the choice to challenge only the obstacles they feel comfortable with. There are several elements that are representative of the activities you can do in North Carolina including a sky kayak, a parkway tunnel, a snowboard in the sky, swinging hula hoops, bumper boats and a zip hang glider, all in the trees that make this a “Truly Asheville Adventure.”
We use a new technology called “smart belays” that, when used properly, are designed to assure Park Guests are attached to safety systems at all times and cannot detach from the system until they have completed the aerial trail and are back on the ground. Guests can explore freely knowing the safety system monitors their attachments and is designed to not allow accidental unclipping from the safety points. It is an active adventure that incorporates physical fitness and personal accomplishment.
Annie’s Bakery is a wholesale bread bakery that crafts high quality artisan bread the old-world way. Our doughs are created with a long fermentation. This process takes 48-72 hours and breaks down the gluten proteins making Annie’s bread easier to digest. Our breads are free from preservatives and additives.

Unique and comfortable vacation rentals surrounding a former Victorian bed-and-breakfast just 10 minutes from Asheville and 15 minutes from Biltmore in artistic Weaverville. Walk to cafes, music, galleries, craft breweries and a scenic mountain lake. King, queen and twin beds are available as well as Wi-Fi and air conditioning. Two rooms have whirlpool tubs and fireplaces. The Mountain View Cottage contains two bedrooms, two baths, full kitchen, living room and deck with an amazing view of the mountains.
Explore the estate via more than 20 miles of biking trails, access to which is free for all guests! Choose from our well-marked, single-track woodland dirt trails for a challenging ride, or our flat, paved trail along the French Broad River for a more leisurely ride. Bring your own bike or rent one from us. We offer two primary types of bikes: mountain bikes and hybrid bikes. Trail-a-Bikes (also called tag-alongs) and trailers are also available.
Biltmore’s Bike Barn, located on the second floor of Antler Hill Barn, is your one-stop location for all things biking. Please contact the Bike Barn directly with all rental inquiries. Rental bikes, trail-a-bikes, and trailers are available on a first-come, first-served basis. No advance reservations are offered or required. We recommend guests who bring their own bikes check in for a trail map and current trail conditions.
Bike Barn hours vary seasonally; please see Estate Hours for current hours. Bike Rentals availability is weather-dependent and are sold through the Bike Barn and Outdoor Adventure Center only.
Prices are in addition to estate daytime admission, Biltmore Annual Pass, or overnight stay that includes estate daytime admission, and are subject to change and applicable tax. Passholders enjoy a 10% discount for themselves and one additional guest. Military and overnight guests enjoy a 10% discount. Reservations are not available or required, with the exception of guided group bike rides. Please visit the Bike Barn on the day of your visit for bike rentals. Bike rental availability is weather-dependent. Helmets are required.
Modern vacation rentals and historic and unique log cabins from the 1930s refurbished with all the modern conveniences. Pet friendly and fully furnished. Located only 5.5 miles north of the center of downtown Asheville. All cabins are fully equipped with linens, towels, coffee maker and refrigerator. All cabins with AC and flat screen TV’s.
The wild trout waters in the Pisgah National Forest and the Great Smoky Mountains and the premier waters of the Davidson River, Cherokee Trophy water and the South Holston River are all fishing great. The catch and release waters of North Carolina’s Delayed Harvest Program have been stocked with great numbers of highly cooperative, hungry trout as well. Late winter hatches of Little Black Winter Stone Flies, Gray Winter Caddis, Blue Winged Olives, Blue Quills and Quill Gordons are all still in play and the additional hatches of the Hendrickson, March Brown, Tan Caddis and Little Yellow Sally Stoneflies are providing quite a buffet for the Brook, Brown and Rainbow trout.
I am a lifelong cyclist, enjoying the aspects of both road and mountain bike culture. My entire adult life has been in bicycle retail. Beginning my career in 1974, I began as a bicycle mechanic, moved on to manage a high end shop, then opened and operated my own pro shop for over 25 years. Throughout this period I never lost interest in the mechanical development of cycling: I very much enjoy building wheels, complete frame builds, and restoring both mountain and road bikes.
BikeWorks in Sylvania, Ohio was my life for the past 28 years. The shop expanded and changed with the times from a small retail space to a larger location that made space for custom bike and fit studio, establishing BikeWorks as northwest Ohio’s premier bike shop.
Through the decades, I was witness to the monumental advancements in cycling technology that have revolutionized bikes and the way people ride them: new frame materials, electronic shifters, disc brakes, and carbon fiber advancements to name a few.
Through these same decades, I was at the forefront of fit training and technology: FitKit, Pro Bike Fit, Trek School of Fitting, Paul Swift and since 2009, 3D Motion Capture by Retul. It is with the advancement of fit technology that my career has taken shape from a retail store owner to a custom bike and fit expert.
Having the knowledge, expertise and tools to connect a customer to a one of a kind custom bike has been the most satisfying aspect of my years in the bicycle world.
My collection of personal bikes ranges from restored vintage race bikes to cutting edge road and mountain bikes, custom road, mountain and randonneur bikes and tandems. My enthusiasm as a cyclist, collector and purveyor of fine cycling products has only grown over the years and continues to fuel my passion as a business owner. It is with great excitement that I bring my experience to Asheville, North Carolina as Tangent Cycles.
We are a small Family owned orchard and cidery nestled in the North Carolina Mountains . For many years we produced small amounts of specialty fruit wines, meads & ciders to share with our friends and family. The love , passion and enjoyment of creating masterpieces in the form of wines , ciders and Meads soon drove us to open up shop In 2018 we began the process of setting up a winery location in Woodfin , our orchard is in a dry county .
We offer studio, one and two bedroom cottages and log cabins located just 6 miles from downtown Asheville, 8 miles from Biltmore Estate and 10 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway. The Pines Cottages is a great place to stay while visiting the Asheville area because we offer more than just a hotel room. Our cottages and cabins have fully equipped separate kitchens and bathrooms. We are pet friendly and our 4-1/2 acres of grounds offer a place to walk your dog, sit next to a fire around our fire pit or cook out on one of our grills.
