Jargon – Continental Social Cuisine
What is Jargon, exactly? Well, for us it’s the language of the places we’ve been, music we’ve heard, books we’ve read, people we’ve met, and conversations we’ve had. Jargon is the language of delicious food ~ and here, we want to celebrate all those things. So we’ve built a place and a commitment to exactly that.
Located in the heart of West Asheville, we have lovingly restored a small, nationally registered historical building at 715 Haywood Road to house this little dream. Like the turn-of-the-century electric trolleys that transported people here to West Asheville’s variety of shops, boutiques, and cafes, we hope that Jargon will be one of your favorite stops.
Offering visitors easy access to its towering peaks, Grandfather Mountain is one of the most biologically diverse mountains and in the world designated by the United Nations as an International Biosphere Reserve. Feel the rush when you cross the Swinging Bridge; marvel at 360-degree views from one-mile above sea level; photograph bears, otters, cougars, eagles and deer in natural habitats; hike rugged back-country trails or stroll gentle nature paths; eat in our restaurant or take your order out to one of many scenic picnic areas; chat with our entertaining, knowledgeable staff and let us help you find your own perfect mountain adventure.
A carefully tended wilderness preserve, Grandfather Mountain is home to many rare North American wildflowers and to displays of such naturalized plants as native azaleas, rhododendrons, mosses and lichens, heathers, and other beautiful species. Parts of the mountain are steep and rocky, but much is accessible to anyone: an excellent nature center, dramatic mountain vistas, and wildlife habitat areas.
Farm-to-table American cuisine, craft cocktails & a robust wine list in an upscale-casual setting.
We are a group of cooks, farmers, waiters, cheese-makers, organizers, ranchers, brewers and dishwashers who share a common philosophy about how we eat and in a larger sense, about life.
We believe in the importance of working locally, not just using ingredients from our surrounding area, but also in our contribution to the community. The success of our restaurant has always been closely entwined with the health and progress of our community. For 35 years we have supported the arts, local-needs and education programs.
Our clients have returned over the decades, we hope in part because we have always tried to treat them as family… and friends. Some might say, our food tastes good, perhaps even memorable. Each day, we do our utmost to prepare and present fresh food in a creative manner with a craftsman’s hand. Working in the most sustainable way possible is important.
The Market Place has been a fixture in downtown Asheville since 1979. Though it’s beginnings rose in the streams and mountains of western North Carolina – a place of mountain trout and small farms – it also has a hand and heart inspired by traditions far from our borders. This mélange of local food prepared with other worldly traditions of the table may have helped the Market Place garner national attention but the keen reverence for the heritage and roots of Appalachia has always remained at the center of what we do.
A perennial favorite way to beat the summer heat in the Asheville area is riding down the chilly waters of Sliding Rock in Pisgah National Forest. The natural waterslide is complete with 55-60 degree water for a refreshing time. Plus, many waterfalls are located nearby.

Given that the water is about 50-60 degrees during the season, it’s sure to be a refreshing adventure! We love West Asheville! From the very moment we moved here we’ve realized that West Asheville is a special place, full of charm, history, and energy.
West Asheville is an area that moves easily between its old-world history and new-world energy, enjoying the charm of its neighborhoods and the spirit of its quaint main street. It’s both down-to-earth and cutting-edge, with 1920’s bungalows and eco-built new homes, with old brick buildings that house innovative businesses, with an appreciation for its stories and excitement for its future.
West Asheville’s advantages are many and diverse; it’s small enough that people know each other yet large enough to support many local independent businesses. Its proximity to downtown, affordable housing, and walkable streets are only part of what makes it popular.
At West Asheville Real Estate we know West Asheville better than anyone else in real estate because we have invested our time and energy in exploring and discovering everything we can about this unique area. So – come join us! You’ll love it as much as we do.

We believe that an amazing experience on the French Broad river helps raise awareness for protecting our wildlife and keeping our waterways clean. We at the AOC are eager to share our knowledge about our river and the surrounding areas to help make the best of your stay in Asheville.
Come down and enjoy all of the great festivities the AOC has to offer. Bring the kids and discover new treasures at our gem mine. Enjoy a delicious local brew from the tap room by the river. We offer outdoor games such as corn hole, ping pong, and beach volleyball. We also offer our grounds for a variety of outdoor events.
