Altamont Anglers fly fishing guides have been guiding and teaching anglers since 1986. Our knowledge of the waters around our home of Asheville, NC lets us customize fly fishing trips to your special needs & desires. Asheville fly fishing offers the daytime experience of pristine trout streams set in beautiful Smoky Mountain settings and the evening experience of a vibrant downtown that offers fine dining, entertainment and arts.
You will find our rates for full-day or half-day float trips to be fair and competitive, with quality equipment and expert instruction. Orvis fly fishing gear is standard for all our trips, to match the quality of service provided by our guides. Our guides are CPR certified, and we are fully insured.
When we want the rewards of fishing to more challenging fish, we travel toward Tennessee and the tri-cities area of Johnson City, Elizabethton and Kingsport where we fish the TVA controlled tail-water streams of the South Holston River or the Watauga River. The releases of water below TVA dams on these rivers provides for constant year-round stream temperatures, predictable hatches for us to match, and excellent opportunities for float-fishing that rival the legendary fly fishing rivers of Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Idaho and the Rocky Mountains.
The Blackbird’s goal is to delight guests with cooking grounded in the traditions and ingredients of the Carolinas creating an affordable and vibrant menu – Modern Southern with a “nod” to tradition.

Elegance and grandeur abound at Biltmore, America’s largest home. This French Renaissance castle in the heart of Asheville and the Blue Ridge Mountains is an architectural jewel. The home features 250 rooms, including 35 bedrooms, 43 bathrooms and 65 fireplaces.
In addition to the house, the 8,000-acre estate is home to forested trails and beautiful gardens, which include one of the country’s most complete collections of azaleas. Biltmore is as magnificent today as it was when it was built more than a century ago. George W. Vanderbilt created the estate in the 1890’s as a grand retreat in the North Carolina mountains. Mr. Vanderbilt brought in Frederick Law Olmsted, the father of American landscape architecture, to design the gardens and trails. Biltmore was the last great project for Olmsted, whose work also includes New York’s Central Park and the grounds of the U.S. Capitol. The Estate is still privately owned and operated by George Vanderbilt’s descendants

We love West Asheville! From the very moment we moved here we’ve realized that West Asheville is a special place, full of charm, history, and energy.
West Asheville is an area that moves easily between its old-world history and new-world energy, enjoying the charm of its neighborhoods and the spirit of its quaint main street. It’s both down-to-earth and cutting-edge, with 1920’s bungalows and eco-built new homes, with old brick buildings that house innovative businesses, with an appreciation for its stories and excitement for its future.
West Asheville’s advantages are many and diverse; it’s small enough that people know each other yet large enough to support many local independent businesses. Its proximity to downtown, affordable housing, and walkable streets are only part of what makes it popular.
At West Asheville Real Estate we know West Asheville better than anyone else in real estate because we have invested our time and energy in exploring and discovering everything we can about this unique area. So – come join us! You’ll love it as much as we do.

All AFFC guides are endorsed by multiple gear companies which allows us to provide you with the best gear available. We are problem solvers who enjoy the connections and process just as much as the pull. We push each other to be innovative, aware of the fine details and to always anticipate the next move gracefully and with respect. I’m a classically trained pastry chef, and I’ve worked in the restaurant industry for (cough cough) a looong time. That’s where I learned to be so witty. 😉 In 2014 I started making cute little custom cakes for friends and family. Just for fun, because I missed making art, because friends don’t let friends eat a dry cake. Then people started requesting them, paying for them, coming up with crazy ideas. I spent the next year or so making four or five celebration cakes a week, holding down a full-time job, and running my entire business from a Facebook page.
